Symptom

I have noticed scrape marks on the sides of my uScopeGX slide trays as shown. Is this normal or is there a problem with my scanner?

Cause

This is completely normal. The slide tray is held securely in place by a bearing on each side of the slide tray carrier. The bearing presses down on the slide tray to keep it from moving while scanning. Inserting and removing the slide tray drags the tray across the bearing which makes the marks you see.

Resolution

The is no reason the uScopeGX would need service or repairs for this issue. It is a normal part of the operation of the device.
