Question

What is the maximum slide thickness I can use with the uScopeHXII?

Answer

The uScopeHXII can accommodate slides that are up to 1.5mm thick. Do not attempt to insert a slide that is thicker than this into the uScopeHXII slide tray. Doing so will certainly damage the slide and could cause glass shards to break off into the interior of the unit.

Typical slides are 1mm thick. Standard cover slips are 0.17mm thick. This leaves 0.33mm for the specimen—typically, professionally prepared specimens are much thinner than this.

If you have unusually thick slides for example, antique slides or those prepared with unusually thick cover slips; contact our sales department for alternative solutions.
