Question

How can I manually install configuration data for a particular uScope?

Answer

Device Configuration File Prompt Early uScopes were shipped with a calibration file on a USB thumb drive. This file was copied to your PC when you initially launched the uScope Navigator application. In some cases, uScope Navigator could not identify the USB thumb drive and would prompt you to select the location of the configuration file.

The configuration file is located in the root folder of the thumb drive and has a file name similar to DEV-XXXXXXXX.ZIP. This ZIP file contains a compressed folder that contains the configuration and calibration data files.

In most cases, the automated installer will copy and install the configuration files automatically. However, there are some cases where you may need to manually install these files.

To manually install the configuration files...

  1. Exit the uScope Navigator 4 application.
  2. Copy the DEV-XXXXXXXX.ZIP file to your computer and unzip it.
  3. Copy the DEV-XXXXXXXX folder that's created.
  4. Paste the DEV-XXXXXXXX folder into the C:\ProgramData\Microscopes International\uScopeNavigator4\ folder.
  5. Restart the uScope Navigator 4 application.

When you re-start uScope Navigator 4, the new settings for the uScope should take effect.

Note
uScopes shipped with uScope Navigator 4.3 and later do not include a separate configuration file. Instead, the configuration file is stored in the uScope memory and is copied directly from the uScope. If you have a uScope that was shipped with uScope Navigator 4.3 or later and you receive a prompt for the device configuration file, you may be experiencing communication problems with the uScope. In this case, verify that you are using a USB2 port on your PC.
