Symptom
From time-to-time, it may be necessary to tweak the calibration settings of a uScope in the field. These settings are available through a hidden menu. We recommend that you only adjust calibration settings when directed by Microscopes International staff.
Resolution
A hidden settings screen has been added to the uScope Navigator v4.3 software. Contact our Technical Support Department if you need to access these parameters.
The secret screen appears under the Device Settings and allows access to the following calibration settings:
Platform Parameters
X/Y/Z Limit
The limit setting specifies the maximum value for each axis. This setting controls how far each axis can be moved from the home position. For the X and Y axes, it keeps the motors from moving the platform too far in either direction. For the Z axis, it prevents the objective from coming in contact with the slide.- X/Y/Z Backlash
The backlash setting specifies the number of motor steps to use to compensate for backlash when changing direction of the motor. - X/Y/Z Settle Time Adjustment
The settle time adjustment allows you to enter a "percentage of normal" value for each axis. This setting lengthens (if greater than 100%) or shortens (if less than 100%) the delay to wait for each axis to stabilize. In some cases, this setting is lengthened for higher power magnification.
Overview Shutters
- Top/Bottom/Left/Right Shutter Adjustment
The shutter adjustments increase or decrease an image shutter applied to the overview image. The shutter is used to mask unimportant, distracting parts of the overview image.
Blank Field Detection
- Threshold Setting for Detecting Blank Fields
Blank Field Detection is an experimental feature that improves scan speed of blank fields in a selected region of interest. The Low Threshold setting sets the requirement for a non-blank field to be very low (less content is required for the algorithm to identify the field as non-blank). The High Threshold requires more content before the field is identified as non-blank.
Note
Changing the settings on this screen can severely impact the performance and quality of the images captured by the uScope. You should change these settings only under the direction of Microscopes International support personnel.
