Symptom

Users cannot create EDF images from scans. Under Multi-Layer Options on the Create Whole Scan Image dialog, when Create EDF Deep Zoom is selected, the Whole Scan Image generator hangs at 0% and never completes.

When Create for All Layers is selected, the Whole Scan Image Generator works correctly and creates a multi-layer Deep Zoom image.

Cause

EDF (Extended Depth of Field) scanning requires a separate license to operate. Without this license, uScope Navigator hangs waiting indefinitely for the EDF License to register.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, do not select the Create EDF Deep Zoom option if you do not have an EDF Sofftware license.
