Summary

When combining (stitching) adjacent fields from a whole slide scan, the image stitcher in uScope Navigator v4.6 has been improved significantly and now provides better stitching and more visually pleasing results.

Details

When combining (stitching) adjacent fields from a whole slide scan, the image stitcher in uScope Navigator v4.5 considered two (2) areas of the overlapped images. In general, these two areas rendered very good results. However, there were some scans that did not stitch as well as expected.

The stitcher has been updated in uScope Navigator v4.6 and now considers twenty-four (24) different areas when stitching adjacent fields. This results in superior image stitching, reduced stitch artifacts, and improved output image quality. The updated stitcher has a negligible impact on performance.

Note
Whole Scan Images created by previous versions of uScope Navigator may be re-stitched (using the new stitcher) and re-created using the new stitch data.
