Question

I understand that the uScope Navigator application is a Windows program.

How much RAM and hard drive space are required to run it?

Answer

The uScope Navigator software is a Windows application that requires one of the following:

  • Microsoft® Windows 7 (64-bit),
  • Microsoft® Windows 8 or 8.1 (64-bit),
  • Microsoft® Windows 10 (64-bit).

In general, the PC used to run the uScope Navigator software must have the following capabilities:

  • At least 8GB RAM (16GB recommended).
  • At least 20GB of available hard-disk space, 100GB or more is recommended depending on your imaging needs.
  • A high-performance SSD (Solid State Drive) is highly recommended for image storage.
  • 1920×1080 or higher resolution monitor.
  • Mouse or other pointing device.
  • Several available USB ports.

Note
The amount of hard drive (or SSD) space required depends primarily on how many slides you will scan and store. A typical 15×15mm scan at 20x requires approximately 1 GByte of drive space.
