Question

Is there a way to display two deep zoom images side-by-side?

I have scanned a tissue section in standard definition and in high definition camera modes and I want to compare the image quality differences side-by-side.

Answer

This can be done using a standard feature in Windows 7/8/10 from the Job Manager by following these steps.

  1. Open the first Deep Zoom image from the Job Manager.
  2. Click in the title bar of the Deep Zoom viewer and drag to the right edge of the screen. Windows automatically scales the viewer window to one-half of the display area.
Deep Zoom Viewer - Right Side
  3. Click the uScope Navigator thumbnail in the left half of the screen and open the second Deep Zoom image from the Job Manager.
  4. Click in the title bar of the second Deep Zoom viewer and drag to the left edge of the screen. Windows automatically scales the viewer window to one-half of the display area.
Deep Zoom Viewer - Left Side
  5. Click the first Deep Zoom viewer thumbnail to display it on the right half of the display.
Deep Zoom Viewer - Split Screen

You may now use both viewers and compare results side-by-side. A good starting point is to use the magnification controls at the bottom of the deep zoom viewer window to set image magnification to 10x. Then locate the same location in each scan for comparison.

Note
Deep zoom images must already be created for each scan before you can use this split-screen technique.
