Predictive Focus Method

The uScope Navigator Application offers several different focus methods you may use when scanning a region of interest. This video discusses the Predictive Focus Method and how it is best used.

Predictive Focus is intended for use with tissue samples and other specimens that are reasonably thin and flat. If your specimen is not well-prepared, this focus method will not provide the best focus results.

After selecting the region to scan, you are prompted to select an initial focus point. Predictive Focus uses this focus point as the middle of a very deep, exhaustive Z-stack of images. It captures the best focused images from a series of prediction points around the region and creates a focus map of the region using each prediction point. Predictive focus works best when the entire region is included within the specimen.

Predictive Focus is a very fast focus method that works well for extremely thin sections where focus does not deviate much from field to field.
